Tobias Willuhn announced new member of the Executive Board at Elbit Systems Deutschland

Graduate aerospace engineer Tobias Willuhn has taken over the management of the newly installed Business Unit (BU) for Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (ISTAR & EW) at Elbit Systems Deutschland in summer 2022, making him a new member of the Ulm-based system house’s management team.

The 45-year-old family man studied at the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich before he was deployed in the career of a technical officer, including as head of aircraft maintenance Tornado of the Air Force reconnaissance squadron 51 “Immelmann” in Jagel and as system officer at the system support centre fighter aircraft in Manching.

After his active service in the German Air Force and studies abroad in the field of business administration (MBA), Tobias Willuhn worked in various responsible positions for Rohde & Schwarz. Key positions here included regional sales management in the naval radio communications segment (EMEA) and programme management Aerospace & Defense (A&D) in the test and measurement segment with responsibility for armed forces, industrial and government customers in Europe. In this position, Tobias Willuhn also completed the Munich-based company’s management development programme.

Commenting on his new role at Elbit Systems Deutschland, Willuhn said, “As head of the new ISTAR & EW business unit, my aim is to rapidly build up the company’s capabilities in the field of electro-optical/magnetic sensors and effectors to meet the requirements of the German and European markets. In this way, we are creating a centre of competence in the strategically decisive field of electro-optical sensors, effectors as well as electronic warfare and making our know-how in the development and production of agilely advanced system solutions available to a broad customer base in Germany, Europe and NATO – in the air, on the ground and at sea. Thus, we are not only able to fully map the increasing requirements of our customers, e.g. with regard to in-service support (ISS) and operational logistics (ILS). We can also rely on the broad product portfolio and technology leadership of the globally active parent company Elbit Systems.”

“I am looking forward to tackling the challenges ahead in a very dynamic environment and with a highly motivated team. With the full support of colleagues in Israel and in Germany, and with the comprehensive range of innovative system solutions, we want to make our contribution in particular to those who stand for security and stability in Europe,” commented the Head of BU ISTAR & EW on his personal motivation in the new job.
